Zamia Furfuracea. Cardboard Palm.
The Zamia Furfuracea is an interesting cycad sometimes having a subterranean trunk which can eventually branch with age. Slow to grow when young but as it matures it speeds up to have an ultimate height of around 1.3m. Rosettes of olive green leaves are pinnately divided each with very stiff leaflets of a leathery texture making up a compact crown, resembling a palm or fern. These are erect in full sunshine but lay horizontal in shade.

Often refered to by one of it's many common names of the Cardboard Palm it is classed as endangered in the wild but is quite common in cultivation. This showy tropical looking cycad is easy to grow and adapts well to growing in containers as well as the ground.

Very Rare to find for sale.
