Ravenea Rivularis. Majesty Palm.
The Ravenea Rivularis Palm is a very ornamental and tropical looking palm. Commonly called the Majestic or Majesty Palm it has large, upward arching pinnate leaves which are bright green on both surfaces with prominent midribs. Even when mature there is no crownshaft but the crown itself is made up of between 16-25 leaves which have no teeth present. The solitary trunk is pale grey in colour, slightly bulging at the base and ringed with prominent leaf scars.
Better grown in a warm conservatory or atrium it is only tolerant of a light frost. A beautiful and elegant palm. Classed as vunerable in habitat.

Latin Name: Ravenea Rivularis Palm
Common Name: Majestic Palm. Majesty Palm.
Native to: South Central Madagascar.
Hardiness: Tolerates only light frost.
Growth Characteristics: Stately and impressive. Solitary grey trunk, slightly bulging at the base with leaf scars. Bright green symmetrical pinnate leaves. Evergreen. Slow growing. Keep away from cool draughts and ventilation.
Sunlight: partial shade away from direct sunlight.
Soil: Well drained soil.
Moisture: Keep evenly moist in summer, a little dryer in winter although do not let dry out completely. Brown leaf tips= underwater, Yellow leaf tips =overwater.
Feeding: Requires regular feeding every 2-3 weeks with a speciality food which contains more magnesium then regular feeds.
