Psidium Cattleianum Lucidum. Lemon Guava Trees.

The Psidium Cattleianum Lucidum, commonly known as the Lemon Guava Tree is a highly branched small compact tree with smooth grey to reddish- brown bark and is closely related to the common Guava. The oval shaped leathery leaves are a rich green in colour, smooth and glossy up to 4.5cm in length. The fruit production begins from around the age of 3 years old with pretty 'frilly' white fragrant flowers being produced in late Spring followed by large round yellow fruits with deliciously aromatic flesh full of Vitamin C. Can be eatern raw or  great for making into jams and jellies too.  Self fertile.

  • Latin Name: Psidium Cattleianum Lucidum.

    Common Name: Lemon Guava Tree.

    Origin: South America. Brazil.

    Hardiness: Frost Tender when young.  Can cope down to -4 degrees when mature for short periods, but probably better kept frost free.

    Growth: Decidous ornamental fruit tree with rich green oval shaped, glossy leathery leaves. Compact in size it has a smooth grey trunk when mature and begins fruiting from the age of 3 years. Fragrant 'frilly' white flowers  appear from late Spring with fruiting between April-June. Large round yellow fruit with firm translucent juicy flesh with a delicious flavour. A natural source of Vitamin. Self fertile.  

    Sun: Full sun/partial shade.

    Exposure: Sheltered.

    Soil: Well drained deep fertile soil rich with organic matter .

    Moisture: Water deeply, then let the surface dry to several inches before watering again.
