Pitahaya Hylocereus.  Dragon Fruit.

The Pitahaya Hylocereus, commonly known as the Dragon Fruit Plant has a climbing or sprawling habit of growth. It is a fast growing perennial cacti. Green segmented stems branch frequently and are three sided with wavy ribs with very few small thorns.n length. The fruit production begins from around the age of 1-2 years old with pretty large greenish-yellow or whitish fragrant flowers which can be produced between 3-6 times a year if growing conditions are right. These are produced along the edges of the ribs and are nocturnal lasting less than 24hours. These striking flowers are followed by oblong to oval fruits, the skin being bright pink with green fins when they are ripe. The flesh has a grape type flavour, sweet and juicy with a texture similar to that of the kiwi because of its edible black crunchy seeds. Dragon fruit can be eaten raw or made into wine, juice, spreads, or desserts. Self fertile.
