Phyllostachys Aureosulcata 'Spectablis'.

Phyllostachys Aureosulcata 'Spectablis' or Green Groove Bamboo is a very graceful and attractive bamboo. Hardy down to -15 degrees it's tall, strong, yellow canes are grooved on alternate sides beteen the nodes and are striped with green. The lance shaped leaves are lush with new shoots being a rich pink colour. Overall great for providing both a visual and a sound barrier in the shape of a hedge as they are quite wind tolerant. Alternatively they look great as a single specimen plant.

A great ornamental plant it can often grow in an interesting zig zag pattern near the bottom of the culm.

Although the Golden Bamboo is classed as a spreading bamboo in hot climates it usually behaves itself better in the UK climate.
