Photinia 'Red Robin' is great grown onto a frame as a pleached tree as it gives an elegant and contemporary screen providing great privacy and an excellent windbreak to any areas of the garden, courtyard or city garden without taking up a great amount of floor space.  An evergreen tree, the oval shaped leaves are a glossy green throughout Winter and then in Spring and Summer all the new leaves appear as a stunning red colour before slowly then changing to green at the end of the year. During June masses of delicate creamy white flowers are produced attracting bees, butterflies and birds. 

Very easy to grow and maintain, these attractive and ornamental trees are tough and completely hardy. The RHS has given it the Award Of Garden Merit.

    Common Name: Christmas Berry. Red Tip Photinia

    Native: North America. Asia 

    Hardiness: -12 degrees or lower if in a sheltered position.

    Growth Characteristics: Evergreen tree. Glossy dark green leaves  in Winter. In Spring and Summer new shoots appear red in colour before turning to green later in the year. Masses of delicate creamy white flowers produced  during June. Easy to grow. Low maintenance. Wind resistant and drought resistant when established. 

    Sunlight: Full sun/partial shade.

    Exposure: Exposed/Sheltered.

    Soil: Any if well drained.

    Moisture: Water regularly through summer, less in winter. Do not allow to dry out when in containers.

    Feeding: feed monthly in growing season.
