Passiflora x Decaisneana. Passion Flower. 3 Vines planted in a 15L pot.

The Passiflora  x Decaisneana is a fast growing climber with the most beautiful exotic flowers produced in succession throughout the summer.  A Hybrid between Passiflora Alta and Passiflora Quadrangularis, the flowers are scented and are between 10-13cm across with deep red petals and sepals and a centre crown that contains numerous white and purple wavy filaments which are not quite as neat at the end, compared to those of the Alta alone.

The vine itself is square stemmed with broad, green oval shaped leaves and pale green tendrils. The large fruit which is egg shaped can be up to 18cm long and is a dull orange colour when ripe. For best fruiting the flowers should be hand-pollinated

Frost tender, but they make great container plants for consevatories and greenhouses.
