Passiflora Caerulea 'Amethyst'.  Passion Flower 'Amethyst'.

The Passiflora Caerulea 'Amethyst' is a fast growing evergreen climber with some of the most beautiful exotic flowers produced in succession throughout the summer. Flowers are around 10cm across with light pink-purple petals and in the centre a ring of numerous rich purple-violet coloured pointed filaments.

Pretty dark green leaves are  lobed with 3 fingers and pale green tendrils. Fruits are egg sized, orange-yellow in colour and are edible but a little bland in taste.

Passiflora 'Amethyst is an old UK hybrid between Passiflora Kermesina and Passiflora Caerulea.

This showy climber is great for covering walls and trellises in courtyards and city gardens as well as making great container plants for patios, conservatories and greenhouses. Cold hardy, but in severe cold it may die back to the ground but will regrow from the roots in spring.

Awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award Of Garden Merit.
