The Opuntia Polycantha var Hystricina is a clumping perennial. Flattened fleshy pads are rounded and oval in shape. Long white downward pointing spinescan be up to 10cm long are brittle and hair-like.Pink flowers are are followed by light green fruit which are covered in dense spines.
Very easy to keep, great for growing in pots and needs minimal maintenance. This variety of cacti is very cold hardy and kept dry in winter will withstand temperatures down to around -20 or lower, surviving long freezes.
