Mammillaria Geminispina Cactus. Twin-spined Cactus.
The Mammillaria Geminispina Cactus forms a mound of closely clustered globular stems. Commonly called the Twin-spined Cactus as there is usually 2 (although there can be more) pure white or white with a darker tip central spines. There are between 16-20 chalky white radial spines up to 7mm long, all interlaced making the green stems appear nearly white hence it's other common name of 'White Cactus'..
This pretty cactus flowers abundantly with small vivid carmine pink flowers which have darker mid veins. Produced in Summer through to autumn they usually appear in a ring on the growth of the previous year but sometimes can be more randomn. This really is a striking and beautiful cactus and perfect for Cacti enthusiasts. Very difficult to find for sale at this size in the UK.

Common Name: Twin-spined Cactus. 'Whitey'. White Cactus
Origin: Guanajuato, San Louis Potosi, Mexico.
Hardiness: -4 if dry but best keep above freezing to avoid blemishes.
Growth Characteristics: Very showy clump forming Cactus. Usually 2 white central spines and between 16-20 interlaced radials. Carmine- pink coloured flowers up to 1.5cm in diameter appearing through Summer into Autumen.
Sun: Full sun.
Soil: Fast draining soil. Gritty.
Moisture: Water regularly in summer. Dry in winter.
