Malus 'Evereste' Trees. Crab Apple 'Evereste' Trees.
The Malus 'Evereste' Tree is great for providing interest to your garden. Flowering in mid Spring, red-dark pink buds are produced which mature into a mass of large fragrant white blossom. A generous crop of bite size apples follows ready to harvest in September-October. The apples are firm in texture, holding the tree well, so as they ripen from yellow-orange, becoming flushed with red well into winter, they contrast beautifully against the dark green of the leaves and the appearance is highly ornamental. The tree is deciduous but before the leaves shed they become a stunning warm golden-yellow colour. The apples themselves are tart, but are great for making into crab apple jelly, jams liquers and cider as well as providing striking colour to your garden.
Easy to grow and tolerant of even the Northerly areas of the UK which are colder and have a higher rainfall. 'Evereste' is self fertile so no need for a pollination partner to produce a large crop of apples, they are a great pollination partner for eating apple varieties.
A perfect tree for training into an espalier form too, adding a formal structural element to any garden, whilst also giving the benefit of being easy to place without taking up too much space and of course home-grown fruit! Has gained The RHS Award For Garden Merit.
