Lytocaryum Weddellianum. Minature Coconut Palm.
The Lytocaryum Weddellianum or commonly known as the Minature Coconut Palm is one of the most elegant and delicate feather palms. A spherical crown of arching, glossy dark green leaves which are finely pinnate sit on a solitary trunk which is ususally covered in dark fibres. After flowering small edible fruits similar to coconuts are produced.
Endangered in its native habitat due to deforestation, but is common in cultivation as it makes a superb houseplant with it's compact size, adjusting well to growing in a container and prefering indirect light.
