Ilex Aquifolium. Common Holly. Cone Shape.
The Ilex Aquifolium more commonly known as Holly is a medium sized evergreen tree or shrub.

Slow growing it has glossy green prickly leaves 5-8cm long leathery in texture. Insignificant small white flowers are followed berries which become bright red around mid November. Commonly associated with Christmas it is low maintenance and hardy throughout the UK.

Grown and shaped into a cone it gives a striking effect when next to a doorway or pathway especially at Christmas, and it is equally suited to growing in the open ground or in planters. One of the few native UK evergreen trees.

    Soil: Any. Well drained. Very adaptable.

    Moisture: Water regularly. Tolerates drought.
