Ilex Aquifolium Argentea Marginata.  Silver Variegated Holly. Ball (Bush) Format.
The Ilex Aquifolium Argentea Marginata is a slow growing evergreen tree or shrub.

Very pretty, it has glossy brightly varigated dark green and creamy-white prickly leaves, leathery in texture which are purplish-pink when young. A femle variety bearing small white flowers  from May to June followed by masses of long lasting berries which become bright red around mid November.  Copes well in coastal positions with sea air and also with urban pollution. Commonly associated with Christmas it is low maintenance and hardy throughout the UK.

Grown and shaped into a ball shaped bush it gives a striking effect when next to a doorway or pathway especially at Christmas, and it is equally suited to growing in the open ground or in planters.
