Heliconia Schiedeana. Hardy Lobster Claws.

The Heliconia Schiedeana brings an amazing tropical touch being a close relative of the banana. An evergreen perennial it can grow up to 8ft tall with glossy light green oblong shaped leaves, smooth but leathery in texture.

Eye-catching upright inflorescences, scarlet in colour with bright yellow flowers at the axils are long lasting and appear when the plant has reached around 2 years old. Very easy to grow and the most cold hardy of all the Heliconias, however it is probably best brought inside through the winter months.

Perfect for bringing an exotic feel to your garden, patio, conservatory or greenhouse.
