Fargesia Scabrida 'Asian Wonder'. Bamboo.
Fargesia Scabrida 'Asian Wonder' is a recently introduced very striking bamboo. Hardy down to -20 degrees and a very well behaved non-evasive clump forming variety, it keeps its dense foliage even during harsh winters. The straight slender canes elegantly arch, are deep green in colour contrasting beautifully against the rusty orange-red culm sheaths. New shoots appear in Springtime. The foliage is slender and elegant a dark green in colour. Relatively fast growing reaching an eventual height of around 3.5-4m they are great for providing both a visual and a sound barrier in the shape of a hedge. Alternatively they look spectacular and exotic as a single specimen plant in a smaller garden.
