Fargesia Robusta 'Pingwu'. Bamboo.

Fargesia Robusta 'Pingwu' is a very striking bamboo hardy down to -20 degrees and a very well behaved non-evasive clump forming variety which keeps its dense foliage even during harsh winters. New shoots appear in early Spring and start off an attractive yellow and red colour and during late Spring leaf sheafs fade to white. This eye catching checkerboard appearance on the canes of white on dark green lasts into late Summer. Fast growing reaching an eventual height of around 4-5m they are great for providing both a visual and sound barrier in the shape of a hedge. Alternatively they look spectacular as a single specimen plant in a smaller garden. The Fargesia Robusta 'Pingwu' is one of the main foods of the Giant Panda.
