Eriocactus Leninghausii. Parodia Leninghausii Cactus.
The Eriocactus Leninghausii Cactus also known as Parodia Leninghausii is a very ornamental, easy to grow variety of cacti where the young specimens are more globose in form, becoming more cylindrical as they mature reaching up to 1m tall. Solitary to begin with, in time they can branch and cluster from the base. Each mid green coloured stem has a slight depression in the crown and up to 30 straight, symetrical and very pronounced ribs densley covered in pale yellow-golden thin flexible spines which are harmless along their margins.

Silky and shiny, brilliant yellow coloured flowers, around 5cm in diameter, appear from the tops of the crown in early summer. If conditions are warm they can flower several times through the growing season. This beautiful and striking cactus is perfect for Cacti enthusiasts. Very difficult to find for sale at this size in the UK.

    Origin: Brazil. 

    Hardiness: Frost tender. Keep above freezing.

    Growth Characteristics: Very showy Cactus mid-green in colour.  solitary, clumping and branching with age. Up to 30 acute ribs with harmless bristle-like thin, flexible spines yellow-golden in colour. Brilliant shiny yellow coloured flowers around 5cm in diameter appear in summer. Relatively fast growing.

    Sun: Full sun/partial shade.

    Exposure: Sheltered.

    Soil: Fast draining soil. Gritty. 

    Moisture: Water during growing season.  Keep dry in winter.

    Feeding: Use a balanced liquid cacti fertilizer at half strength in Spring.
