Elaeis Guineensis.
The Elaeis Guineensis Palm or commonly know as the African Oil Palm is a very graceful and handsome palm. It is a soitary palm with a tall dark grey trunk, ringed with old lear scars and crowned with up to 40-60 huge pinnate dark green arching leaves when mature.
Be mindful of the spines near the base of the leaves as they are quite sharp.It is widely cultivated for oil from it's fruit, palm oil and palm kernel oil. The reddish colored fruit is produced in large clusters and can be seen in palms as young as 3 years old.
