Dicksonia Antarctica Tree Ferns.
The Dicksonia Antarctica Tree Fern also known as the Soft Tree Fern is an amazing plant and one of the oldest in the world, native to Australia and New Zealand. It's thick trunk is densely covered with matted aerial roots and is very slow growing. In contrast it's amazing lush green fronds spring from the crown growing incredibly quickly, given enough water and Tree Fern Feed. It prefers a shady spot spot, but if planted in a sunny position, it will need more water. The most important thing is to keep the trunk moist. Trunk hardy down to -10 degrees for short periods, but it will need protection in prolonged winter freezing. In winter protect the crown with handful of straw to prevent snow and ice settling. Wrap the trunk and fronds with layers of fleece. Not many plants can match the elegance of this Tree Fern. With the popularity of Tree Ferns increasing in the UK, sustainability is very important. At The Palm Tree Company all of our Dicksonia Antarctica are all sourced under licence and come from sustainable areas.(see tag image). These tree ferns are exceptional and the very best quality available anywhere. Occasionally we have curved and unusual forms in stock which are perfect for creative planting. We are able to transport tree ferns complete with Fronds.
