The 'Bigarreau Burlat' is one of the most popular variety of Cherry Tree, easy to grow and a reliable producer of a good amount of fruit. An early fruiter with pretty white blossom being produced in April, followed by medium to large, dark skinned cherries with firm juicy red flesh and a delicious flavour, packed with vitamin C. The Variety 'Bigarreau Burlat' is self fertile, meaning no other tree is needed to set the fruit. Grows very well in a sunny sheltered location, great for coastal locations and hardy throughout the UK. Very easy to grow needing little attention.

Common Name: Cherry Tree 'Bigarreau Burlat'. Cherry Tree 'Burlat'.
Origin: Morocco.
Hardiness: Hardy down to -15 degrees or lower.
Growth: Deciduous ornamental fruit tree with glossy green leaves. Upright form. Good amount of fruit even from and early age. Early season fruiter. Medium to large dark red cherries with firm flesh and delicious flavour, ripening around mid May. Self fertile. Needs little maintenance. Espalier trained.
Sun: Full sun.
Exposure: Sheltered.
Soil: Well drained fertile soil.
Moisture: Water in first season of planting, in following seasons only when less rainfall.
Pruning: Can be pruned annually in early Spring to keep it's size.
