Bauhinia Yunnanensis. 
The Bauhinia Yunnanesis is one of the more cold hardy varieties of Bauhinia. A relatively fast growing climber it starts leafing up in late Spring producing long willowy branches and heart shaped light green leaves and pairs of tendrils used for climbing. Pretty lavender-rose coloured flowers adorn the branches during Summer. Orchid-like they have 5 petals where the upper 3 are veined with a deep purple-red central streak and also present are 3 long stamens which grow downwards from the flower centre. 
This attractive climber is great for covering walls and trellises in courtyards and city gardens as well as making great container plants for patios, conservatories and greenhouses. Cold hardy in most regions, although it will be deciduous. Winter protection will be necessary in areas prone to prolonged freezes.
