Yellow Kiwi Vine 'Minkigold'.
The Kiwi Vine 'Minkigold' is a very attractive and fast growing climber. A relatively new cultivar it bears fruit from a young age and is very productive. It has large attractive deep green leaves ovate in shape and covered with tiny red hairs along with the stems. Between May and June clusters of creamy white flowers are produced with fruit following, ready to harvest between October-November. The fruit themselves are thin skinned and oval shaped with a apple-like fragrance. The flesh is golden yellow, mild flavoured, sweet and juicy rich in Vitamin C, dietary fibre, and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and calcium. Numerous small black seeds are present.
Perfect as an alternative to conventional climbers, they are easy to grow but do need a pollination partner in the form of Actinida Chinensis 'Minkimale' nearby to produce fruit. Happy in containers if space is limited and great for growing on a trellis arch or pergola.
Grown in a sunny, sheltered position they will produce bountiful crops of delicious sweet fruits even in the UK.
Caring for your Kiwi Vine is easy, remember they are a fruit tree so they will need feeding. Feed with tomato feed every 2 weeks from a month after growth starts in spring and through the growing season until the Kiwis start to ripen.
