Trichocereus Tarijensisi Cactus
The Trichocereus Tarijensis is a slow growing columnar variety of cacti. Dark green stems have around 25 ribs with large prominent grey felted areoles which are closely set. Yellowish to light brown spines are strong and stiff, with many pointing slightly downwards. Usually around 1-4 central spines and between 10-50 radials, however these can be missing in older stems.   

Flowering when mature, this Cactus has large funnel flowers very variable in colour from red-pink to creamy white up to 12cm long and 9cn in diameter appearing near the end of the stems.

Young plants are solitary at first but branch from the sides as they mature

Perfect for Cacti enthusiasts. Very difficult to find for sale at this size in the UK.

    Origin: The Andes.

    Hardiness: Frost tender.

    Growth Characteristics: Slow growing tall Columnar Cactus. Branching occurs. Dark green stems with up to 25 ribs. Strong stiff spines, large closely set prominent aereoles. Large red- pink to creamy-white flowers when mature. Low maintenance. Young specimens are similar to Echinopsis Pasacana.

    Sun: Full sun/partial shade.

    Exposure: Exposed/sheltered.

    Soil: Fast draining soil. Gritty.

    Moisture: Water around every 14 days. Allow to dry between waterings. Keep dry in winter.
