Spathodea Campanulata. African Tulip Tree

The Spathodea Campanulata is one of the most beautiful tropical trees. Large and impressive trumpet shaped frilly flowers are a showy red-orange colour and are produced in clusters at the ends of every branch during warm weather. Glossy dark green pinnate leaves contrast perfectly against them with new leaves being bronzy in colour becoming green as they mature. In warm climates this tree is evergreen, but in cooler ones it tends to be semi-deciduous or deciduous. There is also a golden yellow variety.

Commonly known as the African Tulip Tree, it is a perfect plant for a conservatory, atrium or greenhouse as it can easily be pruned to keep it's size and shape. Great also as a patio plant during summer, but will need to be over-wintered inside.
