Dictyosperma Album var Rubrum. Red Princess Palm.

The Dictyosperma is a quite rare collectors palm from the Islands Mascarene. When mature this very attractive palm tree has a crown of between 20-30 long gracefully arching leaves with short petioles and close set leaflets. Newly emerging leaves are a bronze colouring with red edges. A medium sized palm with a solitary trunk, dark grey in colour with a slight bulge at its base. The Crownshaft distiguishes it from the standard Dictyospermum Album by tending to be reddish brown.

Also named the 'Hurricane' Palm for its ability to stand up to strong winds without being destroyed.

This very ornamental palm is hard to come by and quite sought after.
