Stenocereus Marginatus. Mexican Fence Post Cactus.
The Stenocereus Marginatus Cactus is a upright and bold looking columnar variety of cacti. Long, thick, deep green stems branch from the base as it matures, each having 5-7 ribs along which a tidy row of areoles and spines are found. The areoles are white and around 1cm apart each housing one yellowish central spine up to 1cm long and 5-9 short radial ones. Spines in the younger plants tend to be longer than in the mature ones.
Small pink or reddish nocturnal flowers are followed by spiny edible fruit. This perennial evergreen succulent has a great architectural appearance and is perfect for Cacti enthusiasts. Very easy to grow and really difficult to find for sale at this size in the UK.
