Ferocactus Stainesii Cacti. Mexican Fire Barrel Cactus.
The Ferocactus Stainesii Cactus is a simple or clumping variety of cacti where the young specimens are columnar and more mature plants take on a barrel form. Several subsidiary barrels can grow from one main one as the plant ages. Commonly called the Mexican Fire Barrel Cactus the green stems have 13-20 relatively smooth ribs densley covered in sharp bright red-purplish spines with bristle-like white radials.Burnt orange coloured flowers around the crown 2-5cm long are followed by yellow coloured fruit. This really is a striking cactus and perfect for Cacti enthusiasts. Very difficult to find for sale at this size in the UK.
